AirCarbonTM | Pulled from air + greenhouse gas
AirCarbonTM is a material made by pulling carbon out of air--carbon that would otherwise be in the air we are breathing right now.
Sustainable. AirCarbonTM is made by pulling carbon and oxygen out of air and greenhouse gas, including methane and carbon dioxide from sources such as wastewater treatment plants, landfills, and energy production facilities. That means no oil, no food crops, and no GMOs: just clean, abundant, sustainable sources of carbon.
High-Performance. AirCarbonTM is available in a variety of functional grades, including replacements for various grades of: polypropylene (homopolymer, glass-filled, and impact co-polymer), polyethylene (HD, LD, and LLD), ABS, high impact polystyrene, PMMA, and TPU. Newlight’s AirCarbon™ resins can be used in extrusion, blown film, cast film, thermoforming, fiber spinning, and injection molding applications.
Biodegradable. AirCarbonTM is a naturally biodegradable polyester, and can be compounded with both biodegradable and non-biodegradable formulations according to the durability needs of a given application. *Please check labeling or packaging for grade-specific biodegradability and compostability parameters.
Regeneratively Recyclable. As a naturally biodegradable plastic made from greenhouse gas, AirCarbon™ can be manufactured into uniquely recyclable products: products that start, finish, and are recycled as clean, local, cost-effective greenhouse gas.
Carbon-NegativeTM. By using greenhouse gases as a carbon input, AirCarbon™ resins, including AirCarbon-350™, can be produced as a carbon-negative™ thermoplastic material, quantifiably reducing the amount of carbon released into the air in every pound of plastic we make. **Please check labeling or packaging for grade-specific carbon footprint and carbon credit information.
